New Grants Available
Do you have an idea for a project that you have put on hold due to lack of funds? There are two grant initiatives that can help you implement your programs. If you are an FEA member (instructional or support) you can qualify for these grants. The application forms are brief and due on or before January 7, 2010.
The local Gulf Coast Retired Teachers Association will begin accepting applications for a $150 grant in November. Your Building Representative will receive application forms at the November meeting. This grant is available for either new ideas or a project that you have already started this school year. Applicants must be members of the OCEA. FEA-Retired is offering two $100 grants for the District I area of FEA-Retired. This is a program to help working FEA members initiate a new educational program for students that otherwise would not be implemented because of lack of funds. The criteria is broad and only limited by the ingenuity of the member. If you need additional information send your questions to caroleap@cox.net The committee will begin accepting applications in November.
Anyone completing an application form will be considered for all grants. This will allow three FEA members to receive grants next semester. The recipients will be notified by mid - January, 2010.

Directions for grant applications Classroom Enhancement / Student Enrichment In 2 to 3 paragraphs describe a project that you will attempt / complete this school year. Identify the anticipated benefits and your students' grade level(s). Provide a list of materials you will / have purchased for this project. Retain the receipts.* Requirements Return your application by the courier, email or have an OCEA / OCESPA representative bring the application to the OCEA office no later than January 7, 2010. The project requires direct involvement / participation of your students. A. Copies of the receipts for the purchases must be submitted prior to May 15, 2010. * Receipts must be dated between August 21, 2009 and May 1, 2010. B. Provide a summary of the projects results or goals achieved during the 2009 - 2010 school year. If the recipient prefers an alternative to a written summary, he / she may schedule an observation prior to May 14, 2010. Failure to complete A. and B. above will require restitution of the funds. The application forms insures your submission is reviewed for both the $150 local grant and the $100 regional grants. You may email either caroleap@cox.net or connie300@cox.net for more information.
